Privacy
A plain-language summary of how PETBACK handles your data.
What's public
Only what's needed to identify your pet: name, photo, species, breed, colour, identifying features and — only if you turn them on — care instructions and a phone number. When Lost Pet Mode is on, the approximate last-seen area and your message are shown too.
What's always private
Your email, home address, account phone number, your pet's microchip number, medical notes and emergency contacts are never shown on public pages.
Finders
Finders don't need an account. Scanning a tag never collects their location. If they choose to share location, their browser asks for permission first and we store it rounded to about 100 metres. Any name or contact detail they enter is shared only with the owner.
Community listings
A lost pet appears on the public Lost Pets page only if the owner explicitly chooses to list it. Listings are removed when the pet is marked safely home.
Abuse protection
Public forms are rate-limited and protected against bots. Owners can block a conversation and report harassment. Device addresses are stored only as irreversible hashes for rate limiting.
Your rights
You can export all your data or permanently delete your account at any time from Settings. Payment records may be kept without a link to your account where accounting law requires it.
